Shelby restaurant inspections: June and July critical violations

The following restaurant inspections with critical violations were conducted by the Shelby City Health Department in June and July:

The Chill, 218 Mansfield Ave., Shelby, June 16. No person in charge present in food facility during inspection (critical). No person with level one training present at the time of inspection. Any business open after 2010 shall have an employee per shift with level one food safety training available. Get employees certified in level one. Correct by July 18.

Napoli's Pizza, 126 Broadway St., Shelby, June 30. Handwashing sink not accessible (critical). Observed food container sitting in the hand sink. To prevent a foodborne illness, hand sink shall be used for handwashing only. Employee removed bucket from the sink. Correct by July 28. Equipment food-contact surfaces or utensils are unclean (critical). Prep table, cutting boards and food containers are dirty.

To prevent a foodborne illness, food containers and prep areas shall be kept clean. Clean as needed. Correct by July 15. Refrigerated, ready-to-eat, TCS foods not properly date marked (critical repeat). Observed no date marking. To prevent a foodborne illness, TCS foods shall be date marked and discarded per the code. Correct by July 15.

The Chill, 218 Mansfield Ave., Shelby, July 18. No person in charge present in food facility during re-inspection (critical repeat). No person with level one training at the time of inspection. Owner will be called in for an office hearing for failure to comply with having an employee during all hours of operation working with level one food safety certification.

Shelby Duchess/BP #1206, 10 Broadway St., Shelby, July 18. Handwashing sink is being used for purposes other than handwashing (critical, corrected during inspection). Observed canned products in hand sink. Hand sink shall be available for use and used for handwashing only. Employee removed cans from sink.
