  1. Nonprofits propose new shelter as a hub for homeless services. A group of Boulder-based nonprofits sent a letter to city officials proposing a new shelter that could provide housing and services. As proposed, the shelter would seek to serve those that the city’s current housing-first program has not been able to provide for. (Reporting Lab)

  2. Commissioner not seeking re-election. Boulder County Commissioner Matt Jones recently announced he won’t run for a second term, ending a political career that included serving as a state senator and a state representative. After serving more than 16 years as an elected official, Jones says he wants to spend more time traveling, skiing and being active. (CO Daily)

  3. Bone fragments found in search for Marshall fire victim. Investigators have found bone fragments at the the property that belonged to 91-year-old Edna Nadine Turnbull, who has been missing since the fire. The Boulder County Sheriff's Office indicated that despite being told to evacuate, Turnbull went back into the house to save her dogs. (Newsweek)

  4. Homeowners that lost homes to the East Troublesome fire in 2020 are still awaiting payouts. Losing a home to a fire is devastating, but homeowners were totally unprepared for the frustrations that would come next. More than a year later, many are still entangled in the insurance claim process. (CO Sun)

  5. Democrats’ plan for broad new public worker union rights faces opposition from Polis. Gov. Jared Polis opposes a proposed plan that would allow hundreds of thousands of public employees to join unions and negotiate employment contracts. (CPR)


The Environment:

Boulder County gold mine fined $17k for water quality violations. The State of Colorado rescinds all but $5,000 of the fines, as mine reclamation staff indicates that the owners of Cross and Caribou mines are making good faith efforts to get cleanup online. (CO Sun)
