SINGAPORE — Sheng Siong staff at an outlet where a trolley had rolled down a travelator and hit two customers immediately apologised and extended help to the victims, a spokesperson for the supermarket operator said on Wednesday (20 April).

A CCTV video of the trolley incident has gone viral since it was posted on Tuesday night. The incident happened at the Sheng Siong outlet at 105 Canberra Street store in February, the spokesperson said, in response to queries from Yahoo News Singapore.

"The health and safety of our customers is of utmost importance to us. We will learn from the incident and take necessary measures to prevent such incidents," the spokesperson added.

The video shows a Sheng Siong employee positioning a trolley near the top of the travelator.

The employee is not seen in the video later when the trolley begins to slide down the travelator. It slams into a woman before hitting another person at the foot of the travelator.

The video, which garnered over 2,300 shares as at 6pm on Wednesday, ends with the employee rushing down the travelator.
