SINGAPORE — Supermarket chain Sheng Siong has recalled all Le Bao prawn rolls from its shelves since last Sunday (16 April) evening.

This was after a Facebook post went viral over a safety pin that was found hidden in one of the prawn rolls.

The pin had been discovered after a woman purchased the prawn rolls, and had fried and cut them up for her nine-year-old brother.

A Sheng Siong spokesperson told Yahoo Southeast Asia on Wednesday (19 April) that they have since reached out to the customer and apologised for the incident.

Sheng Siong assures that the supplier has since been informed and that they will follow up on the situation to ensure the safety and satisfaction of customers.

"We place the highest value on food safety and will actively work with the authorities on the matter."

As of time of writing, the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) has yet to respond to the woman's email query on the incident.
