Sheriff: Driver ticketed in hit-and-run that struck buggy, injured horse in Marcy

Oneida County sheriff's deputies identified the man charged with leaving the scene after hitting a horse and buggy Tuesday on Route 12 in Marcy.

Shaun McKerrow of Poland was issued a traffic ticket for Marcy Town Court for leaving the scene of a property damage accident, deputies said.

Deputies reported the Amish buggy, driven by 47-year-old Sammy S. Hershberger of Poland, was hit by a black Ford sedan just after 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. The car then left the scene.

While Hershberger did not suffer any injuries, the horse pulling the buggy had injuries to its leg and neck and was brought to its owner's residence for evaluation, deputies said.
