Deadly Miami County stabbing victim identified; Victim’s son charged with murder

A man is dead after a stabbing in Miami County Monday evening.

According to Miami County Sheriff Dave Duchak, deputies were called to respond to a domestic situation involving a stabbing in the 6000 block of Myers Road near Covington.

Duchak says the male victim suffered from at least one stab wound to the chest and was pronounced dead on scene.

The victim was identified Tuesday as David Mayor, 72.

Deputies located a male suspect upon arrival to the scene who is currently in custody, according to Duchak. The suspect was later identified as the victim’s son, Mark Mayor, 47.

Both the victim and suspect lived at the residence on Myers Road.

Mark Mayor has been booked in the Miami County Jail and charged with murder and felonious assault.

On Tuesday, Mark Mayor pleaded not guilty to both charges. His bond was set at $1.5 million, according to court records.

An investigation is ongoing.
