A Fayetteville man was shot and killed Friday night off Legion Road in Hope Mills, officials said, and another Fayetteville man has been named as a suspect in his death.

The shooting was reported in the 3500 block of Town Street at about 10:40 p.m., according to a Cumberland County Sheriff's Office news release. Lowell Anderson, 58, of Fayetteville, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a Saturday night news release from the Sheriff's Office.

Law enforcement is seeking the public's assistance in locating Zachary Maurice Richardson, 34, of Fayetteville, who is a suspect in Anderson's death, the release said. Richardson is considered armed and dangerous, according to the release.

The killing marks the end of a 10-day quiet period for Cumberland County, with the last fatal shooting reported on Nov. 15. Friday's shooting is the fifth fatal shooting the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office has responded to in November.
