Sheriff's office identifies man found shot behind Lincoln Village shopping center

Crime scene tape

The Franklin County Sheriff's office released the identity of a 36-year-old man found dead from a gunshot Sunday morning behind a shopping center in western Franklin County.

Deputies found an unresponsive Franklin Cano, 36, about 6 a.m. in a parking area behind 4636 W. Broad St. at the Lincoln Village Plaza shopping center.

Cano, of the Northeast Side, suffered a gunshot to his upper body, and paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

The investigation determined that a party occurred at a warehouse near the property. Investigators said that Cano likely got into "some type of altercation in the parking lot" at the event before the shooting occurred.

Detectives said the homicide remains under investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Franklin County Sheriff's office at 614-525-3351 or Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-TIPS. Callers can be anonymous.
