The Lane County Sheriff's Office is investigating the Wednesday death of a Junction City man who lost consciousness after going to a neighbors porch north of Eugene. The death is considered suspicious, according to a sheriff's office news release.

The deceased man was identified Thursday as David Roy Keefaver, 36.

One day after the death, investigators have not found any evidence Keefaver's death was the result of a criminal act, Lane County Sgt. Thomas Speldrich said.

Just after 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, the Sheriff's office received a call of suspicious circumstances at a home in the 30300 block of Lassen Lane, west of River Road.

An area resident called 911 to report Keefaver was throwing himself against their door.  As deputies drove to the scene, the caller said Keefaver had laid down on the porch and lost consciousness.

Keefaver lived on Lassen Lane and was a neighbor of the house he died outside of, Speldrich said.

Deputies arrived to find him to be injured and not breathing.

The deputies attempted to perform life-saving measures including CPR, and medics responded to assist but Keefaver died.

Lane County Sgt. Thomas Speldrich said his office did not have additional details Thursday on what the injuries were or the cause of death. Detectives are trying to determine the circumstances of the man's death.
