Original story:

The St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office is searching for a woman who is accused of shooting her mother multiple times during an argument.

Deputies were called at about 5:30 p.m. Friday to a shooting at a home in the 100 block of Lofton Street near Opelousas, according to department spokesperson Deputy Chief Eddie Thibodeaux.

Investigators think Ashley Sims and her mother were arguing when the 38-year-old Sims got a gun and shot her mother multiple times in the abdomen and lower parts of the body, Thibodeaux said. The mother was taken to a local hospital where she was treated for her wounds.

Sims drove from the scene in a Mercedes Benz SUV, Thibodeaux said. Anyone who knows Sims' whereabouts should call the St. Landry Parish Crime Stoppers at 337-948-8477 or leave an anonymous tip on the P3 app.
