Sheryl Crow to close out Lancaster Festival this summer

LANCASTER − Sheryl Crow will close out the Lancaster Festival on July 29 at the Wendel Concert Stage at Ohio University.

She is one of the headlining acts the festival board of directors announced Saturday.

Andy Grammer is the other headliner and will perform on July 22.

The popular Wednesday tribute concert on July 26 at OUL will feature the Red Hot Chilli Pipers. That act is not a tribute band performing Red Hot Chili Pepper music. Instead, it's a rock band fronted by bagpipes that plays cover tunes of numerous rock bands.

"This will be a rock concert," Lancaster Festival Executive Director Deb Connell said of the Pipers. "It's not just one performer that they cover. They play everything from AC/DC to the Eagles. It's going to be a lot of fun. They're very audience-interactive and a lot of fun."

Sheryl Crow and Andy Grammer are the two headline acts for the 2023 Lancaster Festival in July.

As for Crow, Connell said she is both current and relevant.

"She appeals to lots of different age groups," she said. "So, in that way I think that she is a perfect artist for us to present."

The Grammy-winning Crow is know for hits like "All I Wanna Do," "If it Makes You Happy," "Everyday is a Winding Road" and more. She will play with the Lancaster Festival Orchestra, as will Grammer.

Connell said Grammer is in the pop genre and kind of bluesy with a Michael Buble flavor.

"The great thing about him is he sings about positivity and joy and is very uplifting," she said. "He's got a gorgeous voice that's going to sound great with the orchestra."

The festival sometimes features a country act for one of the Saturday shows, but not this year. But Connell said she doesn't think people will mind.

"We're not tied to any one genre," she said. "We may have all country acts another year. These are just the artists that we felt made our lineup the best that we could possibly have this year."

The festival board will release the full schedule of events in the coming months and more information will be released as it becomes available at www.lancasterfestival.org.
