Shetland pony, destined for Cinderella carriage duty, born at Disney World

There’s a new four-legged resident of Walt Disney World. A newborn Shetland pony arrived at Tri-Circle-D Ranch at 4 a.m. Monday, the resort announced Tuesday.

The pony, still unnamed, was born to mom Lady, and is the second Cinderella pony born at the ranch. Her sister Lilly was born there in 2019. Ponies help pull Cinderella’s pumpkin coach at appearances at Disney World.

The foal already has been put in the pasture with mom for bonding time, Disney says. Eventually, she could grown to weigh 450 pounds.

Two Shetland pony foals — named Sprout and Finn — were born at Disney this spring. Tri-Circle-D Ranch, located at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort, is home to about 100 horses and ponies. Guests can visit the horses, and pony rides are available.
