Kabosu, the Shiba Inu behind the viral “Doge” meme and parody cryptocurrency Dogecoin, has made a surprising recovery.
On Friday, the beloved dog’s owner, Atsuko Sato, announced on Instagram that Kabosu can now drink lots of water, finish her food and go to the bathroom on her own. Sato also said she took her pet on a five-minute walk to the park.

Sato’s good news came days after she announced on Instagram on Monday that Kabosu had stopped eating and drinking on her own on Christmas Eve.
In a follow-up Instagram post on Wednesday, she revealed that her pet has been diagnosed with acute cholangiohepatitis, a type of liver disease, and chronic lymphoma leukemia, a type of blood cancer.
Thankful for her pet’s improved condition, Sato expressed gratitude to everyone who prayed for Kabosu, writing, “I thank you all for your prayers. The Miracle of Kabosu couldn’t have happened without your warm wishes and prayers.”

Kobasu, known to the internet as "Doge," went viral after Sato uploaded a picture of her in 2010.
A netizen shared the photo on Reddit in October 2010 and referred to her as "Doge.” Countless netizens began making “Doge” memes featuring Kabosu’s unamused face and her iconic pose with one paw crossed over the other.
