CANTON − The Hall of Fame Village is hosting another Super Smash Bros. esports tournament.

This time it's the Shield Drop Super Smash Bros. Melee on June 18, with a $1,000 pot bonus for the singles competition.

This will mark the third video gaming event at the Hall of Fame Village entertainment campus, which features Don Shula's American Kitchen, Play-Action Plaza with a Ferris wheel-style ride and zip line and other coming attractions, including The Brew Kettle eatery and brewery and a Topgolf Swing Suite.

Presented by the Village's Gold Summit Gaming division, the Shield Drop tourney will be in the club level of Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium, which is next to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, the Hall of Fame Village said in an announcement.

The event is open to players 13 and older and features singles and doubles competitions. The club Level of Tom Benson Stadium features high-definition monitors throughout the space. Gaming highlights will be shown on the stadium's large scoreboards.

Doors open at 9 a.m. June 18; the tournament starts at 11 a.m. Admission is $35 for age 13 and older.

Shield Drop Super Smash Bros Melee follows two previous esports (electronic sports) tournaments, following last year's Chain Grab Super Smash Bros. event and the Chain Grab 2 competition scheduled for May 21.
