Shiloh restaurant expands hours, Ballpark Village gets Italian eatery, plus beer news

I recently met with my girlfriends for some coffee, mimosas and brunch at June’s Breakfast + Patio in Shiloh. (Shoutout to my Wesclin posse!)

A few of the gals hadn’t been there yet and seemed to enjoy it. I’ve been there a few times, and written about it too.

I think it’s a delightful place.

There are now more opportunities to enjoy June’s – from the beverages to the food and the setting.

June’s recently announced that hours and offerings are expanded on Fridays and Saturdays for the summer.

New hours on Fridays and Saturdays are 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. The kitchen’s hours are 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. and then 4-8:30 p.m. on those days.

Guests are welcome to partake of craft beer, cocktails, wines, coffee and small-plate fare.

The small-plate evening menu “features housemade foods and local ingredients,” according to an email sent to the June’s opt-in mailing list.

Coffee, beer, wine and cocktails are available all day.

And to make Friday nights even more enjoyable, there will be live music on the patio.

Check out and follow the Facebook page for event info.

June’s Breakfast + Patio is located at 430 S. Main St. in Shiloh. Hours are 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday, and 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday-Saturday.

Katie’s Pizza & Pasta Osteria

Ballpark Village has another great restaurant for baseball fans. (Yes, it’s for non-baseball fans too, but who would admit that in a big sports town like the STL?)

Katie’s Pizza & Pasta Osteria opened its doors Monday, May 22, at 751 Clark St., just steps away from Busch Stadium, stated a press release.

This is the third and largest location for the award-winning Italian eatery, which is owned and operated by Katie and Ted Collier.

“Opening our newest restaurant across the street from Busch Stadium in Ballpark Village is the realization of a lifelong dream and the culmination of a year of hard work and effort,” Katie Collier stated in the release.

“The sheer space of this restaurant, at 10,000 square feet, gives us so many new options and opportunities to serve our customers, including private-event space for meetings, events and rehearsal dinners. We’re excited to be a part of the fabric of Ballpark Village and downtown St. Louis on Cardinal game days and every day of the year.”

The restaurant has an outdoor patio, a private event area for 60 people, a pasta-making station, and a carryout market that sells specialty items and ready-to-eat dishes.

“I couldn’t be more excited about the opening of Katie’s Pizza & Pasta in Ballpark Village,” Bill DeWitt III, president of the St. Louis Cardinals, stated in the release.

“It’s been one of my favorite restaurants in town for years, and now we have their flagship location right next to Busch Stadium. This is a huge win for Cardinals fans and a big shot in the arm for downtown St. Louis.”

Katie’s Pizza & Pasta Osteria is open seven days a week for brunch, lunch and dinner.

The menu includes the restaurant’s traditional antipasti, burrata, salads and hand-crafted pizza and pasta, as well as new dishes offered exclusively at the Clark Street location, according to the release.

Katie’s Pizza & Pasta Osteria is located at 751 Clark St. in St. Louis. Hours are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

Urban Chestnut Brewing Company

As far as I’m concerned, the one thing that could make beer better is beer that helps animals.

This month the Urban Chestnut Brewing Company released its 2023 STL Zoo Bier, Red Panda Light Lager.

“The Zoo continues this unique, local partnership with Urban Chestnut to not only provide a refreshing beverage to Zoo guests but Urban Chestnut continues to support our worldwide efforts to save animals from extinction,” Saint Louis Zoo Director Michael Macek stated in the release.

“We greatly appreciate the brewery’s generosity and partnership over the last four years, donating and raising over $16,000 for conservation and animal-care efforts at the Zoo. Adults can enjoy a quality, St. Louis-made craft beer while helping wildlife, which makes for a great collaboration.”

The new brew’s label features a red panda – quite possibly one of the cutest animals ever.

And the Saint Louis Zoo is home to two red pandas, Pete and Winnie, according to the release.

The Red Panda Light Lager is currently available at the Saint Louis Zoo and can be found in grocery stores and other beer retailers by May 26.

STL Zoo Bier are available in special sampler packs that include Red Panda Light Lager, Zwickel Bavarian Lager, Schnickelfritz Weissbier and Fantasyland IPA.

For every case of STL Zoo Bier sold at retailers, Urban Chestnut will donate $3 per case to the Zoo to support its animal care and conservation work, stated the release.

See? Drinking beer can be a good thing.

Schlafly Beer

Earlier this month Schlafly Beer announced the release of a new variety pack called “The Weekender.”

Included are a “variety of crushable summer beers, thoughtfully bundled with fan favorites and new styles,” stated the release.

The pack offers up two exclusive brews – Hazy Getaway IPA and No Bounds Brown Ale – the seasonal Raspberry Hefeweizen and the year-round Kölsch.

I call dibs on the Raspberry Hefeweizen.

The Weekender 12-pack has three of each of these beers and can be found among Schlafly’s distribution and its four brewpubs.
