Shipley Do-Nuts is opening a shop in Spartanburg. Here is what you need to know.

Spartanburg residents are curious to know what is under construction between Little Caesars and Five Guys on John B. White Sr. Boulevard.

Shipley Do-Nuts has posted on its website that it is coming soon to Spartanburg, located at 1631 John B. White Sr. Blvd.

This will be the second location in the state, with the first located in Greenwood which opened in 2021.

Spartanburg native Clint Larkins is the owner of both the Greenwood and Spartanburg locations of the franchise. Larkins said he is trying to get Shipley more well-known across the state.

"Shipley has several hundred locations overall, but they're based in Texas," Larkins said. "We picked Spartanburg because I'm from here and my wife is from Duncan and so it's a home game for us. We were building a hotel outside of Nashville, and my dad would go there [Shipley] to get donuts for the guys. We thought it would sit well in South Carolina and that it would be a good fit."

Larkins bought the empty lot on John B White Sr. Boulevard more than a year ago and said the site work is almost finished and hopes to have the framework finished in a couple of weeks. The finished building will be 2,500 square feet, with an estimated opening of mid-August.

City of Spartanburg spokesman Christopher George said Spartanburg is continuing to grow with its food and dining scene, and providing new businesses can promote more economic growth for the community.

"It's one of the good things that we have, and the more amenities and businesses that are located around those areas encourage people to stop and enjoy other things they haven't thought about before," George said. "People are always looking for new options and new businesses we haven't seen before. It's a good thing to provide people options."
