Sad news for any wannabe Tigers and Sharks out there: Shipwrecked has been cancelled, according to reports from The Sun. For the fourth time.

E4 rebooted the show earlier this year in its Battle of the Islands incarnation, which saw two tribes of young folks trying to convince newcomers to join them to win a grand prize, with romance and falling out and people getting way too sunburnt along the way.

It was quite popular in the noughties, but the revived series didn't make quite as much of a splash as ITV2's record-breaking Love Island. In fact, viewers complained that the new series was too much like Love Island and abandoned the classic Shipwrecked concepts like building and survival to be just another reality show on a beach.

A spokesperson for E4 made a statement confirming the cancellation, saying: "Shipwrecked brought a much-appreciated splash of winter sunshine to E4 this year.

"However, with a host of new E4 shows arriving in 2020, Shipwrecked will not be on screen next year."

You might be surprised to learn that Shipwrecked has spawned multiple TV presenters, some X Factor contestants, a very successful journalist, top TV producers, and the art department co-ordinator for a bunch of Marvel Cinematic Universe and Star Wars movies.

It was also responsible for Stephen Bear, so you can't win 'em all.
