According to court records, Fuqua pleaded guilty to the charge on Tuesday. As part of his plea agreement, Fuqua was sentenced to serve 20 years, split to serve 5 years in jail followed by 5 years of probation.

When officers arrived at the home, they found a 22-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to the head. Authorities said the shooting was the result of a domestic dispute.

Police said Fuqua had already fled the scene in a vehicle, making his way to a nearby gas station. From there, he made his way to Sheffield on foot.

Fuqua was found at a house on 8th Avenue in Sheffield, where he was arrested and taken to the MSPD without incident. The woman was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

He was indicted in February 2023.

Jail records show Fuqua was booked into the Colbert County Jail on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. to begin serving his sentence.
