Kansas and Wichita State are planning on playing a regular-season men’s basketball game this December in T-Mobile Center, KU coach Bill Self confirmed to The Star on Monday.

Self, on a day KU released details for all but one of its non-conference games, stressed no contracts had yet been signed, but that talks were ongoing.

Self had no comment on the proposed matchup. He spoke to The Star at Monday’s Otto Schnellbacher Golf Classic, sponsored by the Topeka Jayhawk Club at Shawnee Country Club in Topeka.

No specific date for a potential KU-WSU game has been revealed. But it’s believed that it would be the last game before the conference season begins. If so, it’ll be the only regular-season game KU plays in Kansas City during the 2023-24 season.

KU and Wichita State last met during the regular season on Jan. 6, 1993 at Allen Fieldhouse. KU won that game, 103-54. The teams met in the postseason in 2015. Wichita State beat KU 78-65 on March 22, 2015 in Omaha.

KU leads the all-time series against WSU 12-3.
