Shockers return to Riverfront Stadium for OSU game

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The Wichita State University Shockers baseball team will play at Riverfront Stadium for the fourth year. This year’s game is against the Oklahoma State Cowboys on Tuesday, April 9.

The Shockers have played at Riverfront three other times. Last year, they rallied for a dramatic 8-7 win against the Oklahoma Sooners. They scored four times in the bottom of the eighth to take the lead.

The Shockers played Oklahoma State at Riverfront Stadium in 2022 and lost 12-6.

BYOB, RV Village new to WSU’s Eck Stadium this season

The stadium is the home ballpark for the Wichita Wind Surge. It can seat 10,025.

The game against the Cowboys is a non-conference matchup. The first pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tickets are not available yet.

The game on April 9 will be the second of three games between the Shockers and Cowboys this season. The teams play at WSU’s Eck Stadium on Tuesday, March 26. They will play in Stillwater on Tuesday, April 30.

Oklahoma State is picked third in the Big 12 preseason poll and ranked #21 nationally in the Baseball America preseason poll.

The Shockers open their 2024 season this Friday, Feb. 16, against Little Rock. The first home game will be Friday, March 1, against Utah Tech.

Shocker head coach Brian Green is in his first year with the program. The team includes returning players Mauricio Millan, Seth Stroh, and Jaden Gustafson, as well as pitchers Caden Favors and Matt Wilkinson.
