WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The Wichita State University Shockers will begin their 2024 campaign in Little Rock, Arkansas, on Friday at noon, and the starting pitching rotation is set.

This is the first year of the Brian Green era, as he took over after the Shockers moved on from interim head coach Loren Hibbs at the end of the 2023 season. Last year, WSU finished 30-25 overall and 13-10 in conference play.

Leading off the starting rotation is left-handed pitcher Caden Favors. In his third season with the Shockers, Favors has appeared in 44 total games for the Shockers and holds a career ERA of 3.38.

In 93 1/3 innings across his two seasons in Wichita, he’s struck out 84 batters and allowed a .247 batting average to hitters.

Taking the bump on Saturday is Daniel Zang. A transfer from Dakota Technical College, he made 11 appearances with a 4.43 ERA, striking out 63 batters in 40 2/3 innings of work.

The Sunday starter is true freshman Tommy LaPour out of Blue Springs, Missouri. Coming out of high school, LaPour was ranked the No. 1 right-handed pitcher in the state of Missouri and No. 5 overall player.

The Shockers’ game is scheduled for first pitch at noon Friday and will stream only on ESPN+.
