A shooting at a hookah lounge in Northwest Austin on Saturday night left one person dead and four others injured, according to police.

Multiple 911 calls came in around 10:19 p.m. reporting a shooting at 12636 Research Blvd. An Austin Police spokesperson said officers arrived minutes later and began performing life-saving measures on the victims until EMS arrived. One person was pronounced dead at 10:42 p.m.

Austin-Travis County EMS said two of the victims were taken to a local trauma facility in critical condition.

The two other victims were not in critical condition, although one had more serious injuries, ATCEMS said, and both were also taken to a local trauma facility.

Police did not release any information about the shooter or the motive but said detectives are investigating this as Austin's eighth homicide of the year.

Police said this is an isolated incident and do not believe there's a threat to the public.
