WORCESTER — Police said there had been no arrests as of Sunday afternoon involving a shooting that left one person dead and another injured early Saturday evening.

A ShotSpotter activation at 7:05 p.m. sent police to a home on Cambridge Street, where they found a woman inside the residence with gunshot wounds, according to police.

The 41-year-old victim was transported to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

A second woman at the scene also suffered gunshot wounds, police said, and was taken to the hospital with what they described as less serious wounds.

Police have not released the names of the victims.

Immediately after the shooting, officers shut down Cambridge Street and Quinsigamond and McKeon avenues, according to scanner reports.

The area was quiet Sunday morning, but a man getting into a car with a woman said he was going to a hospital to visit his wife.

Both the man and the woman were upset and the man declined further comment.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
