Shooting near bar north of PBIA leaves one dead

WEST PALM BEACH — One man is dead after a shooting at a bar just north of Palm Beach International Airport.

Around 1:40 a.m. Saturday, law enforcement officers with the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office and West Palm Beach Police Department responded to a call of shots fired in the 2200 block of Belvedere Road in West Palm Beach, near Foster's Shak.

Officers "found evidence of a shooting," according to a news release, but no victims. Two men were dropped off at St. Mary's Medical Center with gunshot wounds. One of the men died of his injuries, and the other was treated for non-life-threating injuries.

The sheriff's office does not yet know who fired the shots. Violent Crimes Division detectives are investigating the shooting as a homicide. The identity of the man who died was not released due to the family invoking Marsy's Law, a 2018 voter-approved constitutional amendment based on a national victim's rights movement.
