Man in critical condition after being shot near motel

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A shooting in northeast Memphis near a motel left a man in critical condition.

The incident happened near the intersection of Sycamore View and Interstate 40 a little after 1 a.m.

A security guard called officers and told them a man was shot and walked over to the Memphis Inn.

The victim’s friend said that he was opening his door at the Memphis Inn when he heard several gunshots. He did not see the suspects but witnessed a white car driving eastbound on Macon Cove quickly.

Video footage showed the victim walking down the street when a silver or gray two-door Infiniti began making u-turns.

The car stopped near the victim and someone pointed a long gun out of the passenger window. After firing several shots at the victim, they fled the scene.
