Shooting at upscale beach resort in Hollywood leaves one man dead, cops say

A man is dead after a fight led to gunfire at a Hollywood oceanfront resort early Monday morning, police said.

The shooting happened at 12:30 a.m. at the Hyde Resort & Residences, 4111 S. Ocean Drive. And it’s the second consecutive early Monday that gunfire killed someone at the upscale resort — a man died early June 15.

According to police, a call came in reporting a possible shooting at the all-suite resort.

When officers arrived, they found a 42-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound.

The man, who was not identified by police, was taken to Aventura Hospital and Medical Center, where he died.

“Preliminary investigation revealed there was an altercation between two parties, which led to the victim being shot,” police said in a news release.

Police did not say if the parties knew each other or what led to the fight, but called it an “isolated incident between the parties involved.”

No other information was immediately available.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Hollywood Police Department at 954-764-4357 (HELP) or 954-967-4567 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477 (TIPS).
