Victim in shooting asks Montgomery County deputies to meet him at gas station; Arrest made later

UPDATE: A man who was shot at or near the Meadows of Catalpa apartment complex in Harrison Twp. called Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputies and asked them to meet him at a Marathon gas station nearby on Riverside Drive in the township.

The gunshot wound to his leg was not life-threatening, the sheriff’s office said late Wednesday.

Deputies, with an assist from Huber Heights police, arrested a suspect in the shooting later Wednesday night during a traffic stop and booked him into the county jail.

Deputies were initially dispatched to the Meadows of Catalpa, in the 4100 block of Indian Runn Drive, about 4:48 p.m. on the report of shots fired and a person screaming.

About 5 p.m., sheriff’s dispatch received the phone call from the man who requested the meetup with deputies at the Marathon, in the 4100 block of Riverside Drive. He said he had been shot at the apartment complex. Deputies reported that his car had several bullet holes on the exterior left side and into the interior.

The investigation into what led to the shooting is continuing, according to the sheriff’s office.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that occurred Wednesday afternoon at a Marathon service station in the 4100 block of Riverside Drive.
