Jan. 25—A soft opening for The Welsh Tea Shoppe is planned for this weekend to coincide with the Clarks Summit Festival of Ice, said Courtney Roby, who operates the business with her sister, Stephanie, and mom, Beth. The shop will be open Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Roby hopes to hold a grand opening for the new shop at 312 S. State St. in the borough in the first or second week of February.

The women started the business out of a licensed kitchen in Clarks Summit in April 2021. They offer online sales and local delivery, and sell their goods at local markets.

The business sells Welsh cookies, other Welsh pasties and Celtic desserts.

Clarks Summit is the sister city of Ystradgynlais, Wales.
