Shopping for the holidays in Burlington? Free and discounted parking is available.

Holiday shoppers in downtown Burlington will be able to enjoy free or discounted parking prices throughout the rest of December, according to the Church Street Marketplace.

The holiday parking rates are in effect now, after having started the day after Thanksgiving. They last through December 31, according to information on the marketplace's website.

Anyone who parks in a city-owned garage or parking lot, or on the street at a meter will get their first hour of parking for free throughout December. This will be automatically applied to parking costs through ParkMobile — the app used by the city for paying for parking. No promotional code is needed, according to the marketplace's website.

The Lakeview and College Street parking garages typically offer the first two hours of parking for free, which will continue through the holiday season. Parking on the street and in garages is always free on holidays and Sundays.

The Lakeview and College Street parking garages will also have free parking available after 5 p.m. until midnight during the holiday season. The Marketplace garage is not included in this offer, according to the Church Street Marketplace.

The Lakeview garage is located off Cherry Street, between Hotel Vermont and Hen of the Wood. The College Street garage entrance is near the intersection of South Champlain Street and College Street.

Even before people leave the house, they can plan where they're going to park by using the resources at parkburlington.com, the marketplace said. Once it's time to park, people can pay through the ParkMobile app, or through its online portal at app.parkmobile.io/zone/start.
