Thursday night

Marlboro 34, Brick 7

Matt Cassidy sandwiched a 52-yard TD run by AJ Schwartz with his own touchdowns on a pair of short scoring runs.

Jackson Memorial 35, Brick Memorial 21

Tai Mann threw touchdown passes to Albert D’Alessandro (40 yards) and Jaiden Hernandez (25 yards) as the No. 10 Jaguars were staked to a 14-0 lead.

Howell 20, Central 7

Howell gained the lead a second time and for good on a 13-yard pass connection from Jack Gartenstein to Kevin Maloney to make it 13-7 late in the third quarter.

Toms River South 22, Toms River East 14

Jordan Jones' tiebreaking touchdown run and two-point conversion with 6.5 seconds left gave new coach Matt Martin a win in his first game.

Freehold Township 27, Barnegat 0

Chase Enlow capped the scoring with a pair of touchdown runs, including a 65-yarder.

Point Pleasant Boro 42, Neptune 0

Matt Oliphant ran for 131 yards on 8 carries and scored 3 touchdowns for the No. 4 Panthers.

Ocean 28, Holmdel 14

Temple commit Tyler Douglas scored two touchdowns and threw two TD passes.

Raritan 31, Matawan 23

Kieran Falzon scored on a 19-yard run for the Rockets that broke a 17-17 tie.

Pinelands 19, Point Pleasant Beach 14

The Wildcats built a 19-0 halftime lead as new coach John Tierney won his debut game.

Jackson Liberty 46, Keansburg 7

Friday night

Manalapan 14, Middletown North 3

Nicholas Heckel's 34-yard touchdown pass to Anthony Macchio and a two-point conversion capped the scoring early in the fourth quarter as No. 8 Manalapan improved to 2-0.

Donovan Catholic 41, Lacey 7

Middletown South 23, Long Branch 13

The No. 7 Eagles were down 13-0 to No. 9 Long Branch until opening the second half with a drive that resulted in a Jake Czwakiel touchdown run and they took control with a 16-13 lead on the first of two Colin Gallgher touchdown runs with 7:36 left to play. Gallagher - who as a linebacker was credited with 3.5 tackles for loss and 14 tackles overall - and Donovan Summey each contributed 90 rushing yards to Middletown South's 225-yard rushing total.

Monmouth Regional 38, Red Bank Regional 28

Monmouth rallied back from a 14-7 deficit and took control with a 28-14 lead in the second quarter.

Julian Jones rushed for 208 yards on 18 carries with two touhdowns, quarterback Anthony Jehn was 10 of 19 for 172 yards and 2 touchdowns and Tahaj Wiggines made 5 catches for 145 yards with 2 touchdowns.

Earlier for Red Bank, Pierce Olsen extended a drive with a 14-yard run, Jahcire Jones added another long run and Kyle Borenius rushed for a touchdown that gave the Buccaneers 14-7 lead.

Red Bank Catholic 63, Freehold Borough 0

Junior linebacker Davin Brewton - who holds offers from Syracuse, West Virginia, and UMass - had six tackles, including four solo, as the No. 1 Caseys improved to 2-0.

Asbury Park at Weequahic (canceled)

Asbury Park forfeited due to a lack of eligible players.

Rumble on the Raritan at Rutgers University

Westwood 34, Shore 0

Shore had a rally opportunity down 20-0 with a punt block putting the ball at the Westwood 36 but the Blue Devils turned the ball over on downs.

Saturday

St. John Vianney 28, Colts Neck 21

Kyle Verriest's touchdown run with 26 seconds left snapped a 21-21 tie.

Manchester 43, Lakewood 26

Manchester rallied back from a 26-21 deficit as junior Josh Love ran for over 200 yards and three touchdowns, giving coach Tommy Farrell his first career win.

Rumble on the Raritan at Rutgers University

Toms River North 40, Rumson-Fair Haven 27

Micah Ford rushed for 279 yards with 5 TDs and overall No. 2 Toms River North rushed for 422 yards against No. 6 Rumson.
