Thursday

LIBERTY DIVISION

Matawan 28, Pinelands 27 (overtime)

Am’ir Martinez's 12-yard touchdown run plus the extra point in the first overtime possession was the difference after Matawan's defense, on a stop by junior defensive lineman Jordan Reamer, held on Pinelands' two-point conversion try. Matawan, which led 21-0 and is now 3-1, also held on a two-point attempt by Pinelands with 48 seconds left in the fourth quarter.

Friday

AMERICAN DIVISION

Rumson-Fair Haven 14, Manalapan 10

Manalapan took a fourth quarter lead with 11:54 left on a 27-yard TD pass by Matthew Grzejka to Anthony Macchio but the Bulldogs responded with the winning touchdown with 59 seconds left.

Middletown South 24, Wall 6

Red Bank Catholic 14, Donovan Catholic 7

Donovan Catholic cut into RBC's with a field goal block that Michael Thomas returned 80 yards for a TD to make it 14-7 in the third quarter but the Griffins' rally fell short. Sabino Portella's legs gave the Caseys a 14-0 halftime lead, with a 7-yard TD run with 5:25 left in the first quarter and a 49-yard scoring run on the second play of the game.

COLONIAL DIVISION

Lacey 31, Central 18

Middletown North 17, Southern 0

James Barnao had a short touchdown run set up by a fumble recovery and Ian Poole-Morgan's 37-yard field goal sent the Lions (3-1, 3-0) to a 10-0 lead.

CONSTITUTION DIVISION

Howell 28, Marlboro 14

Howell rallied from a one-point deficit and improved to 2-2. Marlboro, which was seeking its first 4-0 start on the gridiron since 1999, fell to 3-1.

Jackson Memorial 26 Freehold Borough 0

Tai Mann, who had a game-high 120 rushing yards, had 16- and 20-yard scoring runs and had an interceptions and Aidan Sweeney had 11 tackles for the Jaguars (3-1, 3-1).

FREEDOM DIVISION

Brick Memorial 47, Neptune 41 (overtime)

The Mustangs came back from a 20-point deficit and got an overtime touchdown run by quarterback Connor Dietz.

Ocean 39, Toms River South 0

The Spartans improved to 4-0.

Red Bank Regional 13, Brick Township 6

INDEPENDENCE DIVISION

Point Pleasant Borough 39, Raritan 0

A 46-yard pass from Matt Oliphant to Connor Cilento set up a two-yard TD run by Jake Croce - two-point conversion no good - giving the Panthers an 18-0 lead with 5:43 left in the first half en route to the shutout victory. Oliphant had raced for a 33-yard touchdown with 3:41 left in the first quarter and Point Borough opened the scoring with Tyler Gordon's 2-yard run.
