State Route 2 was closed westbound at West Lakeside Avenue due to the crashes, officials said, but it has since reopened.

Cleveland Division of Fire told FOX 8 the crashes involved three vehicles and were caused due to icy road conditions. They did not all take place at the same time.

One man involved in one of the first crashes was standing on the side of the road when he saw a vehicle sliding toward him.

“To avoid being hit, he jumped the wall falling approximately 30’ and landing on his feet,” Cleveland Division of Fire said in a statement.

The man did survive the impact of the fall and was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center. His condition is not known.
