A short break from the heat in North Texas? It could be coming next week, along with rain
Texas isn’t done with the heat yet, but temperatures in the coming week could offer a short break from triple-digit thermostat readings in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, according to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth.
Allison Prater, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, said that if current trends hold, North Texans could see some isolated or scattered showers along with high temperatures that don’t rise above the 90s early next week.
Prater emphasized that while the predictions currently indicate lower temperatures and rain, forecasts that long out are still prone to change.
If the current forecast holds, though, Prater said North Texans can expect rain to start Saturday in southeastern Dallas County before moving Sunday into Tarrant County. Around the same time, a cold front is expected to come into the region and bring temperatures out of the triple digits by Monday.
Prater said this isn’t a sign that this summer’s triple-digit heat is coming to an end before at least next month.
High temperatures between about 103 and 106 will continue the rest of this week and into the weekend, with the hottest temps expected Wednesday through Saturday, according to the weather service. Morning lows over the weekend are expected to be in the 70s to the 80s.
Despite the chances of rain, an elevated fire risk will continue into the weekend.
