Here are the top stories today in Dallas:
On Tuesday, some Dallas City Council members argued that a task force designed to create regulations for short-term rentals is too close to the industry it is designed to regulate. However, an effort to make any changes to the task force failed in a vote, meaning the current effort will move forward. (FOX 4 Dallas)
According to data provided by the city of Dallas, the city's sanitation department has the lowest percentage of city employees who are vaccinated against COVID-19. Approximately 50% of the department’s 460 workers say they’ve received shots as of Jan. 7. The department announced this month that residents should expect delays in recycling pickups for a few weeks due to workers being infected with the virus. The Dallas Police Department is asking for the public's help in trying to solve a murder investigation that left one man dead on Monday afternoon. Dallas police officers responded to a shooting call at 2800 West Davis Street near Cockrell Hill around 1:30 p.m. Andre Tyron Rufus, a 44-year-old man, was found lying in the street with apparent gunshot wounds.
