Show to feature hits of Chicago, Earth Wind & Fire

Sep. 19—HIGH POINT — The Players, a musical supergroup featuring three former members of Chicago and a former member of Earth Wind and Fire, will perform a concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the High Point Theatre, 220 E. Commerce Ave.

The show promises an evening featuring favorite songs from the two popular bands.

The musicians are Bill Champlin, Keith Howland and Jeff Coffey, all former members of Chicago, and former Earth Wind & Fire drummer Gorden Campbell. Chicago had 21 top-10 singles, five No. 1 albums, 11 No. 1 singles and five gold singles, and Earth Wind & Fire had seven No. 1 singles, eight top-10 albums, and 50 gold and platinum albums.

Champlin, a keyboardist and lead vocalist, performed with Chicago from 1981 to 2009. Howland, Chicago's lead guitarist who also sang some lead vocals, performed with the band from 1995 to 2021. Coffey was a bassist and vocalist for Chicago from 2016 to 2018.

Campbell played drums for Earth Wind & Fire from 1999 to 2001.
