With the new year comes a new outlook, and maybe part of your vision for this year includes a beautiful, new residence. Ever hoped to live in prestigious Belle Meade? Maybe your dream home includes a gated, 5-acre estate once owned by an entertainment mogul. And while we’re compiling the wish list for this new abode, how about a billiards lounge? Pool and pool house? Double-sided, stone fireplaces opening to a grand salon? Maybe 11,000 or so square feet of room to kick around in? An elevator? Fitness center? Waterfalls?
If this is beginning to sound like a good fit, get out your wallet, ‘cause this baby’s going to the highest bidder at auction on Jan. 22. Minimum bid will be $5 million, and you must register beforehand with Platinum Luxury Auctions to be eligible to bid. The home is also listed for sale with broker Candie Worsham of Nashville Area Homes for $9.5 million.

Trayor Lesnock, founder and president of Platinum Luxury Auctions, said 20% to 25% of clients each year elect the luxury auction process within their first year on the market.
“This type of partnership between a luxury auction house and property brokerage is how more than 90 percent of our sales are conducted each year,” Lesnock said. “It’s designed to be a win-win pairing of service providers working on behalf of the property owner.”
Belle Meade Manor, at 1310 Chickering Road, was built in 1995 by sports and entertainment executive Richard Evans, who is known for his role in the planning and development of Disney World. He was also a developer of two amusement parks in California and was a C-suite executive for Radio City Music Hall, Madison Square Garden and Gaylord Entertainment.
Lesnock said the sellers opted for the luxury auction process to expedite the sale during a time when markets are still very active for the luxury homeowner. “They have enjoyed the home for 20-plus years, but are more than ready to downsize,” he added.
He said the luxury auction platform provides a date certainty to the sales process that isn’t available in the traditional brokerage model. “It calls to action the real and ready buyers in the given marketplace to come out and compete for the home or else risk losing it.”
