Showers, storms ahead today, fair weather possible tomorrow

Jul. 17—This Saturday, the area may see showers and storms, with most of the rain expected after 5 p.m., the National Weather Service in Wilmington reported. Tomorrow's weather may be a little clearer, though we may still see some showers and storms in the morning.

The NWS is warning that, while most of the heavy rain has let up, motorists should be aware that there may be some residual flooding from the rain overnight.

Highs will be around 79 degrees, falling to around 64 degrees overnight.

The day will start dry on Sunday, with only a slight chance of showers before noon under partly sunny skies and a high near 82 degrees.

It will be mostly clear Sunday night. The overnight low will fall to around 63 degrees.

The new workweek will be off to a dry start.

Monday will be sunny and hot with a high near 85 degrees.

Monday night will be mostly clear with an overnight low around 65 degrees.
