Showtime: AMC movie theater in Houma reopens tonight for first time since Hurricane Ida

Houma's AMC movie theater will open at 7 tonight for the first time since Hurricane Ida damaged the building.

The theater is opening with movies such as "DC League of Super Pets," "Nope," "Minions: The Rise of Gru," "Top Gun: Maverick," "Elvis," "The Black Phone, "Where the Crawdads Sing" and "Jurassic World Dominion."

"It's been a tremendous effort getting things ready to go and fixed up and we're really excited to open and start serving guests again," said Ryan Noonan, AMC Theaters spokesman.

The AMC Palace 10, at 5737 W. Park Ave., is the only movie theater in Terrebonne and Lafourche. It has been shuttered since sustaining damage from Hurricane Ida on Aug. 29.

The nearest open theater to Terrebonne and Lafourche has been the Lake Cinema in Morgan City.

Here's when you can catch the first showings tonight:

  • "DC League of Super Pets" and "Elvis" begin at 7 p.m.

  • "Top Gun: Maverick" is at 7:05 p.m.

  • "Where the Crawdads Sing," and "Minions: The Rise of Gru" are at 7:10 p.m.

  • "Nope" starts at 7:20 p.m.

  • "The Black Phone" is at 7:30 p.m.

  • "Jurassic World Dominion" starts at 9:30 p.m.

For Houma residents, it will be the first chance to see "Where the Crawdads Sing" in the local theater. The movie, produced by Reese Witherspoon, was partially filmed in Houma last year.
