Here's a look at the top 10 high school football teams in the Shreveport-Bossier City area, as ranked by the USA TODAY Sports Network, after votes by area coaches and reviewing power ratings.

Byrd remains No. 1 after getting past Captain Shreve, while Many moved up after defeating Newman and Arch Manning.

  1. Byrd (4-0) – After topping Shreve in a clash of ranked teams last week, the Jackets continue District 1-5A play against a Tigers defense that has allowed 175 points in the last three games. Last week: Ranked No. 1. This week: at Benton (1-3)

2. Many (4-0) – The Tigers proved they have one of the best defenses in the country by holding No. 1 national recruit Arch Manning to 90 passing yards. Coach Jess Curtis couldn’t find anyone willing to take on his team this week. Last week: Ranked No. 3. This week: Open

3. Ruston (3-1) – The Bearcats defeated another top team last week in Class 4A No. 2 Lafayette Christian and will test another ranked 4A team this week as they continue through a strong schedule. Ranked No. 4. This week: vs. Neville

4. Parkway (4-0) – The Panthers won the Brotherton Bowl with a late field goal off the incredible foot of Aeron Burrell. Now they get a Shreve team seeking a rebound from its first loss. Last week: Ranked No. 5. This week: vs. Captain Shreve (3-1)

5. Captain Shreve (3-1) – The Gators made a late push against Byrd but came up short. They face a Panthers team that has a lot of team speed and seems to be doing a lot of things correctly. Last week: Ranked No. 2. This week: at Parkway (4-0)

6. North DeSoto (4-0) – The Griffins are averaging 51.5 points per game while limiting opponents to 20.5. Those numbers aren’t likely to go down this week against the Lions. Last week: Ranked No. 6. This week: vs. BTW (0-4)

7. Caddo (3-1) Senior Omarion Miller was an offensive machine last week with three TD catches and a 99-yard kickoff return for a score. The 2A Titans will need that and more this week against an undefeated 5A opponent. Last week: Ranked No. 9. This week: at West Ouachita (4-0)

8. Benton (1-3) – The Tigers went from a 54-52 loss to Newman in Week 3 to a 75-59 loss to Airline last week. It doesn’t get any easier against the Jackets, who can put up points quickly if a team lets its guard down. Last week: Ranked No. 7. This week: vs. Byrd (4-0)

9. Northwood (2-2) – The Falcons ran into a team ready for a win in Huntington, and Kam Evans made them pay. Northwood will play at Bossier on Thursday, rather than the previously scheduled Friday, this week. Last week: Ranked No. 8. This week: at Bossier (0-4)

10. Haughton (2-2) – The Buccaneers have lost some momentum after starting the season 2-0, but should be able to get their season back on track this week against the Cowboys. Last week: Ranked No. 10. This week: vs. Southwood (2-2)
