Shreveport-Bossier Black Restaurant Week is coming. Here is what you need to know

The Shreveport-Bossier African American Chamber of Commerce is inviting everyone to come explore the unique foods of our area during the third annual Shreveport-Bossier Black Restaurant Week.

Committee chairman Billy Anderson said this week-long culinary event aims to introduce people to “the many unique options of locally owned black restaurants that are right in your backyard.”

During the week of Oct. 15–21, people can visit the selected restaurants and get $10 lunches and $20 dinners. A kickoff event called "A Taste of MS Kick" begins on Oct. 15, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., at 1210 Milam St. in Shreveport. Tickets for that event can be purchased at Eventbrite.

Chef Niematulai DiGrazia of Niema’s Cookery Corner located in Sunshine Health Market will be participating in the event, with DiGrazia saying "We're reinventing comfort food with an unrivaled twist."

The West African restaurant will provide both lunch and dinner options.

"Our menu is a unique and soulful experience. For lunch, relish the mouthwatering fusion of flavors in our Brisket Fried Rice, a delightful combination of tender brisket and savory rice," DiGrazia said. "In the evening, treat yourself to the heartwarming delight of Chicken Yasss."
