Shreveport company launches new platform for short-term rentals: Meet Rentalscape

A government-focused tech company has launched a platform to assist short-term rental (STR) properties in Shreveport.

Deckard Technologies announced Monday that they have launched Rentalscape, which is a platform to assist the City of Shreveport in identifying short-term rental properties and helping host to become compliant with local regulations.

“Our goal with Deckard’s Rentalscape platform is to simplify the registration process for property owners, as well as monitor complaints to keep neighbors happy,” said Alan Clarke, Executive Director of the Shreveport MPC.

Rentalscape offers a simplified portal to register short-term rentals, gaining permits needed to operate a short-term rental in the city. Deckard tracks all the properties rented out on a digital platform and reports those. This allows for the city to have good information to establish appropriate levels and requirements within in its community, as well as what to expect in transient occupancy taxes.

“This software is quite intuitive, and all the data is there for each listing—including the history of rental properties and future listings; making enforcement easier for our own staff," said Clarke. "Since the short-term rental legislation was adopted by City Council in July of 2021, this platform will only help to provide better customer service for anyone wishing to operate a short-term rental in Shreveport.”
