Shreveport company launches revolutionary new menstrual cup

A Shreveport-based company has launched a feminine hygiene product that will change the market.

In Jan. Louisiana New Product Development Company launched Leia Sustainable Menstrual Cup which was designed by OBGYN Lena Dolgan. This product is specifically designed for those with low cervix and weakened pelvic floor muscles.

The Leia is described by the company as being a compact sustainable menstrual cup with a firm, slanted rim. The products include easy-to-grip rings for effortless cup removal and a short, durable stem for locating and adjusting the cup.

“First and foremost, we wanted to make sure that it was comfortable," said Onega Ulanova, co-founder of Louisiana New Product Development Company. "We used a variety of different materials to test which one would be the softest and most comfortable for women to use."

The idea of this product was created when Ulanova partnered with his sister Dolgan to address the lack of solutions for those who have weak pelvic floor muscles but wish to use a menstrual cup.
