Shreveport Times Athlete of the Week 33 ballot features 14 area athletes
Voting is now open online for The Times High School Athlete of the Week, sponsored by Raising Cane’s, the Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission, which includes student-athletes in Louisiana high school sports other than football from 14 northwest Louisiana schools.
Fans of those students, their schools or their particular sport can vote at shreveporttimes.com under “sports” for their favorite. Voting will continue through Thursday night with the winner announced Friday.
Weekly winners will receive a backpack, a boxed lunch combo and some additional swag courtesy of Raising Cane’s, along with a short feature story on their accomplishments, courtesy of The Times. They’ll also receive two tickets to the 2022 FIVB Volleyball Nations League Tuesday contest in the Brookshire Grocery Arena featuring the USA volleyball team playing on U.S. soil for the first time since winning the gold medal in Tokyo. The U.S. will play the Dominican Republic on May 31, Canada on June 3, Brazil on June 4 and Japan on June 5.
Previous winners include Northwood's Luke Bloxom, Caddo Magnet's Thuy Chau and Calvary's KJ Kennon.

On the Week 33 ballot for the 2020-21 school year are Layla Baker, Doyline softball; Marshall, Airline softball; Emmarie Atkins, Logansport softball; Ella Floyd, Minden softball; Colin Rains, Haughton baseball; Trenton Lape, Parkway baseball; Hayden Harmon, Glenbrook baseball; Reagan Foster, Plain Dealing baseball; Laila Wells, Byrd track; Jeanette Hardison, Loyola track; Mason Haley, Benton track; Brandon Green, Ruston track; Landon Falls, North DeSoto track and Kaleb McHenry, Captain Shreve track.
These athletes were chosen because of their performance last week or because their names were submitted by their coach.

The High School Athlete of the Week includes athletes from all LHSAA-sanctioned sports other than football. In the fall, that includes volleyball, cross country, swimming and cheerleading.
