Shrewsbury, Nashoba take Mid-Wach boys' titles; Wachusett girls take A crown as G-D girls tie with Wolves in B

Boys

Mid-Wach A Championships: Shrewsbury won five individual events and collected 113 points to secure the team victory at Fitchburg High.

The Colonials picked up victories from Matt Anderson (55-meter dash, 6.83 seconds, 300, 37.95), William Jiang (600, 1:33.03), Chase Orciuch (mile, 4:55.09) and Brad Blattner (shot put, 43 feet, 11 inches), as well as in the 4x880-yard relay.

Alan Nguyen won the 55 hurdles in 8.16 to lead Westborough to second place, notching 94 points with depth behind the event winners.

Third-place Wachusett (86) had winners in Dylan Brenn (1,000, 2:46.78; 2 mile, 10:13.36) and the mile relay (3:56.74).

Miles Lipka (5-8) took the high jump for Algonquin (70), and the Titans' 4x220-yard relay foursome also prevailed.

Mid-Wach B Championships: Adam Balewicz (10:22.01) breezed to victory in the 2 mile by nearly 40 seconds and later won the 1,000 in 2:52.57 while boosting Nashoba Regional (120 points) to the team title at Fitchburg High.

Wolves teammates took the 55-meter events — Sawyer O'Riorden (8.51) the hurdles and Gabriel Merrow (6.96) the dash, with Merrow adding a victory in the 300 (38.26).

Zak Metzger (4:53.25) captured the mile for runner-up Groton-Dunstable (91), and the 4x220 relay team (Sam Brewster, Erineldo Chico, Marlon Metellus, Jason Kenney) also took gold in 1:44.87.

North Middlesex's Ronald Nolan (6 feet) was tops in the high jump for third-place North Middlesex (48).

Kingston Aldrich-Cooper (1:34.11) blazed to victory in the 600 for Fitchburg (fourth, 41). Parker Rogers (44-3) won the shot put for Marlborough (fifth, 21).

Leominster collected 18 points for sixth.

Girls

Mid-Wach A Championships: Wachusett Regional scored victories in sprints, middle and long distance and relays toward amassing 128 points and capturing the team title at Fitchburg High.

The Mountaineers prevailed in the 55 dash (Nyah Santana, 7.60), 55 hurdles (Claire Huck, 8.85), 300 (Rahma Giwa, 43.63), 1,000 (Lena Takahashi, 3:22.49), mile (Ashlynn Witt, 5:31.05) and swept the 4x220-yard, 4x440 and 4x880 relays.

Ada Gebauer won the 2 mile in 12:04.72 for runner-up Algonquin (87), and teammate Elena Westphal cleared 4-10 to take the high jump.

Winners for third-place Shrewsbury (82) included Alexis Kent (shot put, 31-¼) and Margaret Garbarino (600, 1:49.10). Westborough was fourth with 66.

Mid-Wach B Championships: Nashoba tied Groton-Dunstable for the team title at Fitchburg High, despite not winning an individual event or relay.

Key second-place finishes for the Wolves included Ella Rogers in the mile (5:46.20) and 1,000 (3L26.23), Paulie Michel in the 300 (46.92) and in the 4x220 and 4x440 relays.

Groton-Dunstable's Catherine Daly captured the mile (5:44.66) and 1,000 (3:22.97), and teammate Georgia Brooks (12:24.65) won the 2 mile by more than 20 seconds and was third in the mile (5:55.15). The Crusaders' Julia Furman (31-2½) was tops in the shot put.

Diamani Canuto took the 55 dash in 7.58, then the high jump (5-2) to lead third-place Leominster (54 points). The Blue Devils also took 10 points in the mile relay (Anna Serafini, Sydney Creaven, Rebecca DaSilva, Canuto), winning in 4:45.13.

Ava VanBuskirk (45.37) won the 300 for Marlborough (fourth, 51 points), and the Panthers' 4x880 relay team of Rhea Khanderia, Abigail Hennessy, Rachel Powell, Callie Sibole also took first.

Noella Tamfu (9.9) prevailed in the 55 hurdles for Fitchburg (fifth, 43), and the Red Raiders' 4x220 relay team (Julianna Ortiz, Tamfu, Brianna Demers, MacKenzie Roy) won in 2:01.26.

Abigail LaCourse (1:51.29) was a winner in the 600 for North Middlesex (sixth, 40).
