Shrewsbury police seek owner and answers after dog abandoned near Christmas Tree Shops

SHREWSBURY - A German shepherd was abandoned by the side of Route 9 early Sunday, and authorities are looking for the public's help in tracking down the owner.

The dog was found tied to a bench near Christmas Tree Shops.

A witness told investigators that someone left the area in a taxi. Authorities were notified about 10 a.m.

Anyone with information about the dog is asked to call police at (508) 845-4681 or Shrewsbury Animal Control at (508) 481-8421. The dog is with the Worcester Animal Rescue League.
