Both the Sturgis and Centreville girls' hoops teams dropped games on Monday evening.

The Lady Trojans went on the road and fell to Niles-Brandywine, a Division 3 honorable mention for the Associated Press this week, 65-32. With the loss, the Trojans are now 2-13 on the season while Brandywine improves to 11-1.

"We had a tough time getting the ball inbounds against Brandywine's pressure tonight," Sturgis coach Jeremy Bucklin said. "When we did get it in, we broke the pressure easily and got good looks at the basket. Girls battled all night. Give Brandywine a lot of credit, they are a good team. We are still getting better every day."

Kennedy Finnerman led Sturgis with 12 points, four rebounds and two steals in the game. Keyanna O'Tey tossed in eight points with six rebounds and three steals while Rylee Carver scored five points with four rebounds and four assists.

Emily Schuller chipped in with three points, four blocks and six rebounds. Yuri Villafuerte added two points with four rebounds and four steals, Riley Eicher also scored two points with five rebounds and three steals.

Centreville dropped a 51-36 decision to Kalamazoo Hackett on Monday.

"It was a tale of two halves today," Centreville coach Jill Peterson said. "Our attitude and effort were much better in the second half and it showed on the scoreboard. I'm proud of how we turned it around and hope we can build momentum into the next two weeks full of games."

Hackett led 14-2 after one quarter of play and 27-8 at halftime. Centreville would score 14 points in each of the final two quarters in the game, Hackett posted 13 in the third and 11 in the fourth.

Faith Edwards led Centreville with 14 points, 10 rebounds, six assists and four steals. August Blair added six points in the game while both Hailey Miller and Paris Lugo scored five points. Drew Alexander tossed in three points, Kendalynn Bernheisel scored two and Emmy Pritchard made a free throw. Blair ripped down eight rebounds in the game as well.
