SHS squeaks past Allegan

The Sturgis golf team won a close one over Allegan on Monday.

The match took place at Cheshire Hills Golf Club, where the Trojans won 185-187.

Hayden Goodman led the Trojans, he shot a round of 40 on the day. Graeme Herald added a score of 46, Austin Sanford shot 47.

Charlie Frost shot a round of 52, Nick Berry carded a 54 and Luke VanderHulst added a 56.

“Tough day out there,” Sturgis coach Nate Schwartz said. “Conditions weren’t the greatest. We’ll take the victory and move on.”

Plainwell tops TR

The Plainwell golf team hosted Three Rivers at Lake Doster Golf Club on Monday. The Trojans won the dual 184-207.

Garron Gahan led the Cats with a round of 44, that tied for the low round on the day. Nick Melville added a round of 52, Phillip Wellman shot 54. Isaac Adams fired 57.

Cass wins jamboree

The Cassopolis golf team won the Marcellus jamboree held at Pine View on Monday afternoon. The Rangers posted a team score of 203 on the day.

Comstock was second with 206 followed by White Pigeon at 218, Marcellus with a 252 and Centreville carding a team score of 253.

White Pigeon’s Luke Gropp was fourth individually with a 50. Owen Keo and Cole Jackson both shot 54, Jezz Ryall and Isaiah Ryall both shot 60. Evan Rudloff added a round of 65.

Marcellus was led by Jack Lamoreaux with a 58. Lucas Wantowski shot a round of 60, Mindy Boyer added a round of 62. Hunter Hurley shot 72, Micah Gooden added a 78.

Centreville was led by Landon Bingaman with a 58. Felix Suchert shot a round of 63, Caleb Schwartz and Nathan Hartong both added a 66. Zoe Jones shot a round of 73, Mara Webb carded a 77.

SCAA jamboree

A SCAA golf jamboree was held at Riverside Golf Club in Battle Creek on Monday. Adrian Lenawee Christian took first place with a team score of 185, Hillsdale Academy was second overall at 196.

Climax-Scotts finished third with a 204, Jackson Christian shot 211 and Colon added a 226. Will Carleton Academy shot 232, Burr Oak came in seventh with a round of 254.

Flavio Hernandez led Burr Oak with a round of 47, Branson Hernandez shot 68. Ethan Lindsey carded a 66 and Austin Cole shot a 73, which knocked 10 shots off his score from last week.

“Overall the match went very well and was a much easier course than last week. Pace of play was up and scores were a little better overall,” Burr Oak coach Tyler Hunt said. Austin had his first bogey, one over par, and made many great shots throughout the night. He is improving quite quickly.”

Brandon Roosevelt of Battle Creek St. Philip was the medalist, shooting a round of 42.
