A Siesta Key property designed by an award-winning Sarasota architect has been listed for $21 million in the Sanderling Club.

Guy Peterson designed the residence at 8250 Sanderling Road that was built in 2000. The Sarasota architect has more than 80 design awards, including a Gold Medal from the Florida AIA, according to previous Herald-Tribune reporting.

Bill and Elaine Crouse bought the 1.5-acre property for $8.85 million in 2014, before completing a "transformative renovation," in collaboration with Peterson, Michael K. Walker and Richard Geary, according to the news release about the 7,750-square-foot residence on the water on Siesta Key.

"Elegantly composed of four rectangular pavilions, the exterior is a true work of art, supported by an unfinished concrete framework," marketing material states. "Layers of concrete, intricate cutouts, and artful glass details adorn the modern façade. A seashell-textured concrete path sets the stage for the extraordinary experience that unfolds within."

Joel Schemmel of the Schemmel Soda Group at Premier Sotheby's International Realty's Sarasota office listed the property on Wednesday.

“Architectural brilliance meets coastal-contemporary luxury in this exceptional estate," Schemmel said in the news release. "Situated within the prestigious Sanderling Club on Siesta Key, this home affords exclusive access to a host of high-end amenities to accompany an unparalleled beachfront lifestyle.”

The property has won awards from the Gulf Coast chapter of the AIA and the Florida chapter of the AIA, even garnering a mention in two books on Florida architecture, according to the news release.

The eye-catching $21 million price tag for the property ranks among the most expensive in the region, just below a $22 million listing at 3799 Flamingo Ave. on the north end of Siesta Key.

But both are well behind the $33.8 million listing that hit the market in September for a newly constructed home in the Harbor Acres neighborhood.

While the Sarasota real estate market has seen moderation in prices, closed sales are well behind last year, although, a luxury property sold in 2023 on Lido Key for nearly $14 million.

Despite there being several properties listed above $20 million, the record sale for a Sarasota property remains a Harbor Acres sale from the summer of 2022 at $17.5 million.
