Signage indicates Mattress Warehouse store opening in Aiken on Whiskey Road

Aug. 10—A Mattress Warehouse store will be opening in a former home of Aiken Office Supply at 2560 Whiskey Road, according to new signage there.

Aiken Office Supply closed in 2022 after more than 50 years in business. It had been based at that particular location since 1995.

According to Aiken County land records, the former Aiken Office Supply property is owned by CJR Development Corporation Inc., which purchased the 1.31-acre site for $1.79 million from Robert Holley in 2021.

In addition to the 12,000-square-foot "retail store," there is a 3,000-square-foot storage warehouse on the property, land records show.

Richard D. Heaton, who has an Aiken address, is the registered agent for CJR.

Mattress Warehouse is headquartered in Frederick, Md., where it opened its first store in November 1989.

Over the years since then, the number of Mattress Warehouse retail outlets has grown to more than 300, according to mattresswarehouse.com.

Besides Maryland, there are Mattress Warehouse locations in Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia.

The Mattress Warehouse stores currently open in South Carolina are in Greenville and Indian Land.

Brands of bedding offered for sale include Tempur-Pedic, Serta, Sealy, Stearns & Foster and Kingsdown.

Other sleep-related products such as pillows, sheets, mattress protectors and bed frames also are available for purchase at Mattress Warehouse stores.

The Aiken Standard was unable to reach a Mattress Warehouse spokesperson prior to the deadline for this story's publication.
