Signing day: Boise State inks 16 high school recruits, JUCO edge rusher on busy morning

Early signing day has come and gone at Boise State.

The Broncos signed 16 high school recruits this morning, including quarterback Kaleb Annett and explosive running backs Sire Gaines and Dylan Riley. Boise State also signed junior college edge rusher Joseph Marsh.

Boise State came into the day with 17 known verbal commits in its 2024 recruiting class. The only one who didn’t sign a National Letter of Intent was former San Diego State kicker/punter Jarrett Reeser.

DL Lopez Sanusi, 6-3, 280, NFL Academy, London, England

Sanusi is the latest international player to join the Broncos, following German defensive lineman Max Stege, who signed with the program last December, and pass rusher Ahmed Hassanein, who grew up in Egypt before moving to the United States in high school. Hassanein led the Broncos with 12.5 sacks this season. Stege appeared in nine games and tallied two tackles before suffering a season-ending injury against Air Force.

Sanusi was born in Ireland, spent his high school years in Nigeria and last year at the NFL Academy in London. He visited Boise State in early November and was in attendance for the Broncos’ 42-14 win over New Mexico, which was former Boise State coach Andy Avalos’ final game. He was fired the next day. Sanusi is a three-star recruit, according to 247Sports. He also had scholarship offers from Georgia State, Buffalo and Campbell. He will enroll early at Boise State and be on campus in January.

WR Cameron Bates, 5-9, 165, Mansfield Timberview High, Arlington, Texas

The latest player Boise State pulled out of the Dallas-Fort Worth area played quarterback, wide receiver, cornerback and kick returner at Mansfield Timberview High. As a junior, Bates racked up 1,101 yards and 17 touchdowns through the air and 470 yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground while leading the Wolves to 51.9 points a game and a 13-1 record. He focused more on wide receiver as a senior, finishing the season with 51 catches for 909 yards and 13 touchdowns. He will play wide receiver at Boise State.

Bates is a three-star recruit, according to 247Sports. He also had scholarship offers from Texas Tech, Sam Houston State and Toledo.

TE Kaden Anderson, 6-4, 225, Chandler (Arizona) High

Anderson’s senior season at Chandler was cut short by a knee injury he suffered on Sept. 9. As a junior, he caught 32 passes for 321 yards and six touchdowns, according to MaxPreps. The three-star recruit is the No. 27 prospect in Arizona and No. 80 tight end in the country, according to 247Sports. He also had scholarship offers from Nevada, Air Force, Army, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Fordham, Georgetown, Hawaii, New Mexico State, Northern Arizona, Yale and Pennsylvania. He will enroll early at Boise State and be on campus in January.

OL Gregory Bienvenue, 6-4, 280, Desert Ridge High, Mesa, Arizona

Bienvenue was a two-sport star at Desert Ridge who excelled as a tackle on the football field and a post player on the basketball court. The three-star recruit is the No. 45 overall prospect in Arizona, according to 247Sports. He also has scholarship offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Oregon State, Boston College, Colorado State and Iowa State.

OL Eyitayo Omotinugbon, 6-3, 275, Queens Creek (Arizona) High

Omotinugbon was the second player to join Boise State’s 2024 class. The 275-pound interior lineman ran a 4.64-second 40-yard dash at a Rivals camp earlier this year. He also competed at the NIKE Outdoor Nationals in the shot put and discus. The three-star recruit is the No. 41 prospect in Arizona, according to 247Sports. He also had scholarship offers from Air Force, Cornell and Northern Arizona.

Edge Roman Caywood, 6-4, 220, Corner Canyon High, Draper, Utah

Caywood is the No. 23 prospect in Utah, according to 247Sports. The three-star recruit committed to Boise State in early September. He also has scholarship offers from Washington State, Idaho and Nevada. He spent the first three years of his high school career at Cottonwood High in Salt Lake City, Utah. As a junior, he posted 45 total tackles, 18 tackles for a loss and nine sacks, and added 29 catches for 595 yards and seven touchdowns as a tight end. He will enroll early at Boise State and be on campus in January.

DL Trevor McKenna, 6-6, 255, Borah High, Boise

McKenna is the No. 3 prospect in Idaho, according to 247Sports. He’s been committed to the Broncos since July. He also has scholarship offers from Eastern Washington, Idaho, Montana Tech and Pacific. McKenna played offensive tackle and defensive line at Borah High, but he will focus on defense at Boise State. He will enroll early and be on campus in January.

DL Hayden Hanks, 6-4, 270, Thompson Falls (Montana) High

Hanks was the first player to join Boise State’s 2024 class. He’s also the first football player from Thompson Falls, Montana, to ever earn a scholarship from an FBS program. He began his high school career playing 8-man football, but he grew into an all-state player on an 11-man team during the final two years of his high school career. The three-star recruit is the No. 2 prospect in Montana, according to 247Sports. He also had scholarship offers from Montana and Montana State.

LB Clay Martineau, 6-3, 210, Oregon City (Oregon) High

Martineau posted 44 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, four pass breakups, one interception, one fumble recovery and one blocked field goal in eight games as a senior. He also caught 29 passes for 471 yards. The three-star recruit also has scholarship offers from Washington, Washington State, BYU, Air Force, Colorado State, Nevada, Idaho, Portland State and Mercer. He will enroll early and be on campus in January.

S Travis Anderson, 6-0, 175, Mission Viejo (California) High

Anderson posted 109 tackles, three sacks and a team-high seven interceptions as a senior. The three-star recruit also has scholarship offers from UNLV, Fresno State, Columbia, Pennsylvania and Darmouth. He will enroll early and be on campus in January.

WR Tyrone Jackson, 6-3, 180, Archbishop Riordan, San Francisco, California

Jackson finished off his high school career with 58 catches for 810 yards and 12 touchdowns as a senior. He is a three-star recruit with scholarship offers from Oregon, Oregon State, Washington State, Utah, Iowa State, San Diego State, UNLV and Utah State.

RB Dylan Riley, 6-0, 185, Rancho Verde High, Moreno Valley, California

Riley rushed for 2,059 yards and 29 touchdowns as a senior, averaging 10.7 yards per carry. He eclipsed 100 rushing yards in nine games. He posted 1,621 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns as a junior. The three-star recruit also has scholarship offers from Washington State, Fresno State, San Diego State and San Jose State.

CB Treyvon Tolmaire, 5-11, 165, Mission Viejo (California) High

Tolmaire finished his high school career with 72 tackles and 12 interceptions. He also helped Mission Viejo win a state title. The three-star recruit has scholarship offers from Michigan, Washington State, UNLV and Darmouth. He will enroll early and be on campus in Boise in January.

DL Connor Warkentin, 6-5, 260, Centennial High, Bakersfield, California

Warkentin posted 67 tackles, 22 tackles for loss, eight sacks, three forced fumbles and one touchdown as a senior. The three-star recruit also has scholarship offers from Air Force, Army, Eastern Washington, Fresno State, Nevada, San Diego State, Sacramento State, Northern Arizona and UC Davis.

ATH Sire Gaines, 6-0, 193, Orange Vista High, Perris, California

Gaines finished his high school career with more than 5,000 all-purpose yards. He registered 2,079 all-purpose yards as a senior at Orange Vista, including 1,685 rushing yards and 27 touchdowns on 175 carries. He will begin his college career as a running back and slot receiver.

Gaines is the No. 67 overall prospect in California, according to 247Sports. He is a three-star recruit and also has scholarship offers from Washington, Washington State, Arizona, Arizona State, Oregon State, San Diego State, Fresno State, San Jose State and Utah State. He was committed to Arizona State before flipping to Boise State earlier this month. He will enroll early and be on campus in January.

QB Kaleb Annett, 6-3, 190, Corona Del Mar High, Newport Beach, California

Annett finished his high school career with 4,163 passing yards and 46 touchdowns. He threw for 2,751 yards and 30 touchdowns as a senior. He was also an all-conference basketball player at Corona Del Mar, and his mother, Ami, was a hurdler at Texas Tech. Annett is a three-star recruit whose only scholarship offers were from Boise State and Princeton.

Edge Joseph Marsh, 6-3, 225, College of the Canyons, Simi Valley, California

Marsh was named SCFA All-Northern League first team after posting 36 tackles, seven sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery this season. He also has scholarship offers from Houston, Florida Atlantic, Utah State, Old Dominion, Idaho State, Northern Arizona and Weber State. He will enroll early and be on campus in January.
